Nintendo’s new game provides areal battles with giant mechs. Oh, and there’s dinosaurs everywhere. Connor Bearse - October 16, 11:02am
The Wii U’s first year was rough, no games and the looming announcement of “real” next generation consoles made it seem like there was no reason to even bother with Nintendo’s latest console. This year is a different story though.
Starting out with an announcement for a brand new Super Smash Bros, a 3D Mario, and even a new side scrolling Donkey Kong Country game Nintendo started to catch my eye. But with Monolith’s new RPG where you get to fight dinosaurs with giant robots, the Wii U is starting to look pretty awesome now.
The game’s focus is going to be on exploration. While traversing a giant alien world you’re free to do what you like. There to aid you is what the game is calling “Dolls”. These so called Dolls are giant robots about four times bigger than the player and are completely controllable. The term Transformer seems more appropriate to use though, since it’s possible to turn into motorcycles, cars, or even tanks.
Not a fan of driving? Jump in your doll and take to the sky, just be careful: the game looks to throw some pretty serious areal fighting your way.
While the game looks awesome, it’s always best to reserve judgment until we’ve actually played it… although there’s nothing wrong with building a little hype with an awesome trailer!
It looks like the game is called “X” and is set to release sometime in 2014. Hit the trailer above to check it out!
